Being Awarded the Seventh )
Annual Don Bosco Award )
Resolution No. 95/ ill
WHEREAS, Carol and John Ozanich have made their home in the
Rollingwood area of San Pablo since 1946 where they raised six children; and
WHEREAS, in 1976, John and Carol retired from employment with 30
years service each. However, they have not retired from providing service to the
community. John is currently Chairman of the Rollingwood-Willart Park and
Recreation District, treasurer of St. Paul Holy Name Society, a member of SIRS
and a life time member of the American Legion and Knights of Columbus. He
has been a Director of the.West Contra Costa Salesian Boys and Girls Club for
15 years and does needed maintenance work for the Salesian High School and
St Paul Church and School; and
WHEREAS, Carol is the current Past President of West Contra Costa
Division 5 of the California Retired Teachers Association; has been active with
the American Association of University Women; has served as a director of the
Salesian Boys and Girls Club since 1986 and is the incoming secretary. She is
the treasurer of St. Paul Holy Rosary Solidarity and a TOPS group as well as
provides tax preparation service through AARP; and
WHEREAS, both Carol and John meet the criteria for the Don Bosco
Award by bettering the Salesian Boys and Girls Club's relations in the
community; exemplifing an awareness and promotion of the philosophy of the
Salesian Order and its pedagogy. and having made many personal sacrifices on
behalf of the Salesian Boys and Girls Club:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of
Contra Costa County commends John and Carol Ozanich for their efforts to
make their community a better place, especially for its youth; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of Contra
Costa County congratulates John and Carol Ozanich upon the occasion of their
being the first couple to be awarded the prestigious Don Bosco Award.
Introduced by Passed and adopted by unanimous votes of those
Jim Rogers, Supervisors present on March 21, 1995.
