IN THE MATTER OF RECOGNIZING ] RESOLUTION No. 95/110
ROBERT L. "BOB" HILSON AS THE 19941
MARTINEZ CHAMBER OF COMMERCE ]
LIFETIME: ACHIEVEMENT AWARD WINNER ]
WHEREAS,, Robert L. "Bob" Hilson has been an active member of the
Martinez community for at least fifty years, serving on the
Planning Commission for over eighteen of those years and has
participated in the cleanup and maintenance of' local roadways; and
WHEREAS,. Robert L. "Bob" Hilson, with forty-three years perfect
attendance, has worked staunchly for the Martinez Lions Club,
building the Lions Blind Center in Pittsburg, painting the
Historical Museum building, cleaning cemeteries, providing scenic
drive turnouts, and many more projects; and
WHEREAS,. Robert L. "Bob" Hilson has steadfastly supported
youngsters through his work with high school football in Martinez,
by voluntarily officiating as a referee at games, by working as an
assistant coach, and serving at the football banquet, additionally,
he has also has fostered other programs that support and encourage
Martinez young people, including the Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, 4-H,
Easter Egg Hunts, Pop Warner football, and others; and
WHEREAS, Robert L. "Bob" Hilson, through his lifetime has given
much more to Martinez than he has taken and has proven repeatedly
to be art example of generosity and volunteer spirit.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT Board of Supervisors, because
of his extraordinary public service, congratulates
Robert L . " Bob" Hilson
as the Martinez Chamber of Commerce
Lifetime Achievement Award Winner
and thanks him for his tireless efforts on behalf of all residents,
especially the youth, of the Martinez community.

March, 1.995 .

IN RECOGNITION OF MARY PEREZ AS ] RESOLUTION NUMBER 95/108
AS THE MARTINEZ CHAMBER OF COMMERCE]
"WOMAN OF THE YEAR" ]
WHEREAS, Mary Perez, by virtue of her generosity, initiative, and
drive has made remarkable and constructive contributions to the
City of Martinez and its residents; and
WHEREAS, Mary Perez has brought comfort to the less fortunate and
enlightenment to her contemporaries since 1985, by her tireless
efforts with the "Christmas for Everyone" program; and
WHEREAS, Mary Perez, through "Christmas for Everyone" brought food,
entertainment, presents and clothing to over 1250 people in the
last year alone; and
WHEREAS, Mary Perez has been a mentor and an inspiration to
Martinez, youngsters, and an invaluable asset to Martinez seniors by
spearheading the "Kids Who Care" program; and
WHEP,.AS, Mary Perez and the "Kids Who Care" have brightened up
Martinez by painting homes for seniors who may not have had them
painted otherwise;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of
Contra Costa County, because of her exemplary citizenship does
hereby congratulate and recognize
Mary Perez
as the Martinez Chamber of Commerce
"Woman of the Year"
and thanks her for her contribution to the City of Martinez and the
County of Contra Costa.

IN RECOGNITION OF LARRY LIPPOW ] RESOLUTION NUMBER 95/109
AS MARTINEZ CHAFER OF COMMERCE]
"1995 MAN OF THE YEAR" ]
WHEREAS , Larry Lippow, third generation Martinez resident, with
his wife Lila, sons Brian and Evan, continues in the family
tradition of community responsibility and activi-sim; and
WHEREAS , Larry Lippow has been an astute businessman and a
concerned and active member of the Martinez community; and
WHEREAS, Larry Lippow's continuing interest in the youth of
Martinez; has been reflected 'by his generous donations of both time
and money to numerous recreational leagues; and
WHEREAS, Larry Lippow's talent for stimulating and challenging
people to do their best has rejuvenated the Martinez Education
Foundation, resulting in a 50% increase in fund raising; and
WHEREAS, Larry Lippow also makes a valuable contribution as a
directo.LT of the Child Family Therapy Center, volunteer in Horizons,
and member of the M.J..H.S. bond committee to name just a few of
his commitments;
NOW THEREFORE, we, the Board of Supervisors of Contra Costa County,
do hereby thank, recognize, congratulate, and commend
LARRY LIPPOW
AS MARTINEZ CHAFER OF COMMERCE
111995 MAN OF THE YEAR"
and thanks him for his contribution to the City of Martinez and
the County of Contra Costa.

IN RECOGNITION OF KATIE KOZUKI ] RESOLUTION NUMBER 95/106
AS MARTINEZ CHAFER OF COMMERCE]
1119.95 YOUNG WOMAN OF THE YEAR"
WHEREAS , Katie Kozuki, by virtue of her initiative, talent,
leadership and desire to "make a difference to the students at
Alhambra. High School and the young people of Contra Costa County
has resulted in her being named 1995 Young Woman of the Year; and
WHEREAS , Katie Kozuki ' s academic achievements include Golden State
High Honors in Biology and Honors in Geometry and Algebra; N.C.S.
Scholar Athlete for four years; member of C.S.F. ; recipient of
fourteen AAUW Certificates of Merit; and maintaining a 4 . 0 during
her year's at Alhambra; and
WHEREAS, Katie Kozuki 's fellow students have demonstrated their
respect for her good judgement, integrity, and leadership abilities
by electing her to serve as an elected officer every year,
culminating in her now serving as ASB President; and
WHEREAS, Katie Kozuki ' s celebration of her Japanese ancestry has
resulted in untold contributions to the Jr. Young Buddhists
Association, Japanese cultural events, and athletic events; and
WHEREAS, Katie Kozuki demonstrates a high level of responsibility,
honors her commitments, and totally dedicates herself to
accomplishing any task at hand;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of
Contra Costa County because of her living her life by exemplifying
"anything is possible" does hereby recognize and. commend
Katie Kozuki
as the Martinez Chamber of Commerce
"1995 Young Woman of the Year"

IN THE MATTER OF CONGRATULATING RESOLUTION No. 9 5/10 7
AT MWgDER ROSS CLAUSEN AS THE
MARTINEZ CHAMBER OF COMMERCE
"YOUNG MAN OF THE YEAR"
WHM AS, Alexander Ross Clausen is a extraordinary example of scholastic
excellence, maintaining a 4.0 grade point average at Alhambra High School while
maintaining a rigorous curriculum composed of honors and advanced courses; and
WHEREAS, Alexander Ross Clausen is a member of a number of prestigious
academic organizations including the California Scholarship Federation and the
Alhambra Math and Science Club; and
WHEREAS, Alexander Ross Clausen has also distinguished himself with his
creativity and artistic abilities especially with his photographic talents; and
WHEREAS, Alexander Ross Clausen is also an example of athletic proficiency by
virtue of his participation on the varsity cross-country team, varsity track and field
team, and the varsity soccer team; and
WHEREAS, Alexander Ross Clausen is a role model to other young people with his
accomplishments and his generous volunteer efforts as a counselor to the sixth
graders at the Martinez Junior High School.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Contra Costa County Board of
Supervisors, by virtue of the fact that he exemplifies excellence in our youth, with
accomplishments far too numerous to mention here, recognizes, and congratulates
Alexander Ross Clausen
and thanks him for his contributions and his example to other Martinez youth.
