SUBJECT: Approve Plans and Specifications and Advertise for bids for the Lindsey Detention Basin
interim Excavation Project.
Project No. 7566-6D8465-94, CDD-CP # 95 -2.
Specific Request(s) or Recommendation(s) & Background & Justification
1. RECOMMENDED ACTION:
APPROVE the Plans and Specifications for the Project and
ADVERTISE for bids to be received on Thursday, April 20, 1995, at 2:00 p.m.
DIRECT the Clerk of the Board to publish the Notice to Contractors in accordance with Section
21191 of the Public Contract Code.
II. FINANCIAL IMPACT:
The estimated contract cost of the project is $700,000, funded by Drainage Area 56 Funds
(100%).
III. REASONS FOR RECOMMENDATION/BACKGROUND:
The interim project is needed to provide added storage capacity to control and contain flood
waters and reduce the risk of flooding to the surrounding area. The ultimate basin will be
constructed in a future project.

The Chief Engineer has filed with the Board of Supervisors the Plans and Specifications for the
project.
The general prevailing rates of wages, which shall be the minimum rates paid on this project,
have been filed with the Clerk of the Board and copies will be made available to any interested
party upon request.
The Board reviewed and approved the project on January 31, 1995 and found, that minor
technical changes or additions to the project as descirbed in the addendum to the Negative
Declaration are necessary and that there is no substantial evidence that the project will have a
significant effect on the environment and approved the Addendum to the Negative Declaration
in compliance with the California Environmental Quality Act.
IV. CONSEQUENCES OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
If the project is not approved for advertising, it will not be constructed .
