HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 03141995 - 1.14 IN THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, STATE OF CALIFORNIA In the Matter of Commending ) Rudy Brooks Upon his ) RESOLUTION NO. 95/ 97 Retirement From County Service ) WHEREAS, Rudy Brooks is retiring from his position as Institutional Supervisor I, with the Probation Department, after 16 years of County Service, years marked by dedication, leadership, professionalism and concern for the youth of Contra Costa County; and WHEREAS, he gave two years of service to the United States Army, graduated from San Francisco State College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology and holds a lifetime Community College Limited Service Credential to teach special education; and WHEREAS, Rudy Brooks spent many years, prior to joining County service, as a Consultant, Director of Training, Counselor, and administrator in a number of Human Relation, Child Care and Training Service oriented organizations; and WHEREAS, he began his career with Contra Costa County in March of 1979 as a Group Counselor I in the Probation Department, was promoted to Group Counselor II in April of 1980, was promoted to Group Counselor III in April of 1981 and again promoted to Institutional Supervisor I in February of 1987; and WHEREAS, Rudy Brooks has devoted his professional life to the furthering of sound human relations, the training and development of staff and providing the opportunity for positive change to young people in need; and WHEREAS, he has always been a positive role model for the staff he has worked with and the young people he has provided service for through the years; and WHEREAS, he worked tirelessly to organize and develop the program for the new Serious offender unit (Tamalpais) at Juvenile Hall and was recognized by the California Association of Probation Institution Administrators as the Outstanding Institutional Supervisor of the Year in 1994 for his contributions to the field of Probation and the humane detention of youngsters; and WHEREAS, Rudy Brooks has given so much of himself to the children of Contra Costa County and is deserving of a long and enjoyable retirement with his wife Elaine; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT BY THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA RESOLVED that Rudy Brooks is COMMENDED upon his retirement for his exemplary record of public service to the citizens of this County. PASSED by unanimous vote of the Board members present on this 14th day of March 1995. I hereby certify that the foregoing is a true and correct copy of a resolution entered on the minutes of said Board of Supervisors on the date aforesaid.
