Riverview was very pleased that LAFCO added language to the proposal for consolidation that clearly stated that no existing fire stations in the consolidated area would be closed subsequent to the consolidation. While we applaud this step, there is a situation in Riverview Fire District that we hope the Board would consider. The issue in question is the proposed new fire station on West Leland Road, "Station 87" . This station has been in the 5 Year capital improvement plan for over five years. The voters in Riverview approved an assessment of $15 for four years and an additional assessment of $29 for two years with the promise that this would provide one new station in Antioch and one in Pittsburg. The station in Antioch is on line, but the one in Pittsburg is still in the planning stages. Like myself, each of the Supervisors is a politician and I'm sure you can all appreciate my position. I went to my constituents and asked them to support these assessments with the promise that if they did, Pittsburg would get the fire station we need to provide adequate protection to the western area of Pittsburg. The City approved sizeable developments in the Bailey Road area on the assumption that the proposed fire station, which our residents agreed to pay for, would be built as promised. Now consolidation has left Station 87 in question. I hope the Board would consider some method of guaranteeing expedient development this station so that we can provide adequate fire service, response times, etc. to our residents. In all fairness this station has been assessed for and it only seems fair that the people should get what they paid for. Respectfully, dl ROBERT T.
