Short-form Service Contract
SPECIFIC REQUEST(S)OR RECOMMENDATION(S)&BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION
I . RECOMMENDATIONS
APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Director of General Services to
execute a short-form service contract with Cassandra Edwards
in the amount of $44,000 for the provision of services in
coordinating communications services requests for the period
June 1, 1994, through May 31, 1995 .
II . BACKGROUND
Cassandra Edwards is a retired Pacific Bell employee with
experience in processing service orders and coordinating with
County technical staff as well as Pacific Bell technical staff
to provide service changes . Her experience with the telephone
company provides her with the expertise to expedite the
processing of telecommunications services requests which
require service from Pacific Bell or other carriers . Also,
she is updating the County's telephone inventory to ensure
that proper charges are being made for lines and services .
III . FISCAL IMPACT
Cassandra Edwards works flexible hours, less than full-time,
at an hourly rate of $23 . 00. The time she spends processing
telecommunications services requests if charged out to
customer departments . If she did not provide these services,
they would have to be done by technicians, which would result

in delays in processing orders, as well as delays in
performing other technical repair and service work needed by
departments . The volume of telecommunications services
requests continues to be very high, and many departments that
are reorganizing to accommodate budget cuts need telephone
equipment moved or changed. Getting these service requests
processed as quickly as possible is a very high priority, as
telephone service is critical to providing public service.
