SUBJECT. APPOINTMENT ,TO THE "LABOR" SEAT ON THE
HAZARDOUS MATERIALS COMMISSION
SPECIFIC REQUEST(S)OR RECOMMENDATION(S)&BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION
RECOMMENDATION:
1 . APPOINT to the Hazardous Materials Commission, to the "Labor"
seat, to complete an unexpired term ending December 31, 1995 :
Pam Aguilar

Concord, CA 94520
2 . REMOVE this °item as a referral to the 1994 Internal Operations
Committee.
BACKGROUND:
.The Hazardous Materials Commission is a 12 member advisory body
which is to advise the Board of Supervisors on issues relating to
the storage, use, generation, treatment and disposal of hazardous
materials and hazardous waste. One seat is reserved for a "Labor"
representative.
The . Central Labor Council has historically been given the
opportunity to nominate the representative from Labor for this
.seat. Attached is a letter from Steve Roberti of the Central Labor
Council, nominating Ms . Aguilar, who is a member of AFSCME, Local
2700 .
It is appropriate for the Board of Supervisors to appoint Ms .
Aguilar to the "Labor" seat on the Hazardous Materials Commission.

The Central. Labor Council of Contra Costa County, at the request of Marice Ashe,
has taken action to fill the vacant labor position on the Hazardous Materials Commission.

our representative on the Commission.
