Nine Street Martinez, CA 94553 ` 6199 Dear Board of Supervisors, CLERKBOARDOF;,OpERVrSORS CONTF ;COSTA CO, On behalf of the 5 C 's (Contra Costa County Chambers: of Commerce - 28 Chambers) we wish to request a change in the fee structure of the CCC Fire District. We have been advised that this is your jurisdiction. The majority of the Chambers hold a Festival during the year, as do many of the churches and schools, all of which are held on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays. The Fire Permit fee is $90 for a FestiANCarniva.l . We are then charged an additional $180 minimum for overtime for the inspector, to come out on weekends. All of these events occur on weekends and therefore it seems fair: We had discussed this last year and been told they would look: into having "fleet" or "comp" time for the inspectors so that there would be an inspector available for the weekend. This discussion evidently did not reach you, it did however become an issue with the union the inspectors belong to. In dealing with businesses which are not available during the normal S to 5 hours the inspectors now work: a nine hour day and have one day off in accordance. It is our understanding after talking with a few of the inspectors that weekends would be another place to implement this policy. This is what we are asking be done with the weekend inspection process. Non-prof it organizations such as the schools, churches and chambers have very restrictive budgets and this extra charge makes a big difference to them. We do understand that overtime is restrictive to the Fire District budget. We would appreciate your assistance in this matter. - Sincerely, ' Barbara Wexted President
