.SUBJECT: CLARIFY ROLE OF MUNICIPAL ADVISORY COUNCILS IN
COMMUNITIES WITH SPECIAL ASSESSMENTS FOR LAW ENFORCEMENT
SPECIFIC REOUEST(S)OR RECOMMENDATION(S)&BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION
RECOMMENDED ACTION: In communities which impose or have
imposed special assessments for law enforcement purposesand
where Municipal Advisory Councils exist, designate the MAC as
the advisory body to the Board of Supervisors. In their
advisory capacity, the MAC will provide the Board with
recommendations on issues relative to the revenue and
expenditures generated by the special tax areas.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION: The duties and responsibilities of a
Municipal Advisory Council include advising the Board on
planning issues and services provided to their community.
These services include, but are not limited to, public health,
safety, public works and land use planning. As special
assessments for law enforcement falls under the category of
safety, clarification is desired to establish the MAC as the
advisory body to the Board.
