SUBJECT: Lease of Southern Pacific Right-of-Way
SPECIFIC REQUEST(S) OR RECOMMENDATIONS(S) & BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION
RECOMMENDATIONS
APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Deputy Director - Redevelopment to execute
a six month extension of Lease of Southern Pacific Right-of-Way at
Peasant Hill BART Station with the San Francisco Bay Area Rapid
Transit District.
FISCAL IMPACT
The lease being extended provides for BART to make a monthly payment
of $10. 00 per parking space. The six month lease extension will
generate approximately $44, 000 in revenue to the Redevelopment Agency.
BACKGROUND/REASONS FOR RECOMMENDATIONS
Effective September 1, 1992 the Redevelopment Agency and the Bay Area
Rapid Transit District (BART) agreed to an 18-month lease of a portion
of the former Southern Pacific right-of-way in the Pleasant Hill BART
Station Area. The property is owned by the Redevelopment Agency and
leased by BART for temporary patron parking. The lease Agreement
permitted a six-month extension unless the Redevelopment Agency needed
the property for other uses. That not being the case, a lease
extension is recommended.
