Honorable Tom Powers, Chair Contra Costa, County Board of Supervisors 651 Pine Street, Room 106 Martinez, CA 94553 Dear Supervisor Powers:, You will recall receiving a letter from Mayor Jordan recently apprising you of San Francisco's exploration of a possible International Exposition - Expo '99 - at Treasure Island and his desire to work closely, on a regional basis with all Bay Area communities. Per the enclosed article from the San Jose Mercury News, progress is rapidly being made. A task force has been appointed with the assignment-4o present to Mayor Jordan a feasibility study sometime during the Fall of this year. Toward that end, the task force feels that it is appropriate and timely that key members of our group meet with you in the very near future to apprise you of our activities and progress and, of course, to solicit your counsel and cooperation. Mayor Jordan and Committee Chair Edward Powell have requested that I take the lead in setting up these meetings and, with this in mind, would appreciate dates and times convenient to you so that we can convene in your office, hopefully, before summer sets in. I will call your office shortly to arrange a meeting. It is our goal to make Expo '99 regional in every aspect. Working closely with you, your office and your staff is extremely vital. I look forward to discussing this exciting project with you. Sincerely, James Lazarus Director, Special Projects Encl. 200 MY HALL,SAN FRANCISCO,CALIFORNIA 94102 (415) 554-6141 RECYCLED PAPER 1 J I J IM / L'V I T 1 MV VL:VMV fVL TVT i.' rr! 4 fll'1 JGIY I U I y ( Com •uth 'f' _ ■On fuss schatars/i t8 . r'.A .. __ Classed cuss ..
