Con.tra Costa County and authorize the Chair of the Board of Supervisors, to sign the proclamation . Background The General Assembly of the United Nations has proclaimed 1994 as the International Year - of the Family . All around the world, groups are celebrating the contributions that families make to quality of life. The theme for : the celebration is "The � Family.: Resources and responsibilities .in a Changing World ". Officially recognizing . the year-long celebration sponsored by the United. Nations, President Clinton issued a proclamation declaring 1994 as the International Year of the Family . Cooperative Extension offices throughout the country are coordinating programs for International Year .of the :Family because of the leadership role we havetradi-ftonal`-l:y taken in preventive educational. approaches to improving th:e quality of life for all families . The .Board of .Supervisors of Contra Costa County can help to highlight the importance of efforts in support of families by issuing a . proclamation for this County .
