CLERK BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
Dear Supervisor Powers ,
CONTRA COSTA CO.
I hereby respectfully request that the Board of Supervisors pass a
Resolution to change the name of the Brentwood 'Recreation Park.
District to the Delta Recreation & Park District .
On April 20 , 1994 the Brentwood Recreation & Park District at their
regular board meeting approved this name change by motion. I have
enclosed a copy of Chapter 4 of Division 5, Article 4 , section 5782 . 15
of the public Resources Code of the State of California under which our
District operates . Under this code the governing body (The BR&PD) may
propose a change in the name of the district to the supervising
authority (The Board of supervisors) who may signify their approval of
the change by resolution.
The BR&PD voted to approve the name change for several reasons,
one, the public is very confused by the fact that we are a Special
District of Contra Costa County yet our name alludes to our being a City
of Brentwood Department . The BR&PD has served the entire far East
County for many years , with over 50% of our users residing outside the
City 's boundaries giving us an area-wide dimension .
The success of the District greatly depends on the volunteerism and
participation of the community we serve. The BR&PD Board of Directors
feel that having a name more representative of the community we serve
will promote more participation of our most valued resource , our
customers .
1 have enclosed a copy of our board roster . Should you have any
questions , please feel free to contact them. I hope that you and the
Board of supervisors will consider our request and at your earliest
opportunity pass 'a resolution to change_ the name of the BR&PD to the
Delta Recreation & Park District .
