Recommended Action: A. APPROVE Right of Way Contract and ACCEPT Grant Deed and Grant of Easement, both dated April 29, 1994, from Black Iris Land Corporation. B. AUTHORIZE the Public Works Director to execute Right of Way Contract on behalf of the County. C. APPROVE payment for said property rights and AUTHORIZE the Auditor-Controller to issue a check for $30,600 payable to Chicago Title Insurance Company, 590 Ygnacio Valley Road, Suite 300, Walnut Creek, CA., 94596, Escrow No. 75722, to be forwarded to the Real Property Division for delivery. D. DIRECT the Real Property division to have the above-referenced Grant Deed and Grant of Easement recorded in the Office of the County Recorder. II. Financial Impact: Payment totalling $30,600 from South County Area of Benefit Funds. Reasons for Recommendations and Background: This project was generated in response to a high incidence of traffic accidents at the intersection of Camino Tassajara and Highland Road. The problem is caused by inadequate sight distances along the curves approaching Highland from both directions. The realignment project will improve sight distances and also provide a left-turn pocket. These property rights are required to meet project specifications. IV. Consequences of Negative Action: The project will not have sufficient land rights to allow construction in accordance with the approved plans and specifications.
