the Board of Supervisors .
BACKGROUND:
The Child Care Task Force was reestablished by the Board of
Supervisors on April 23, 1991, as a 51 member Task Force, designed
to represent all possible interests in the child care field. This
size has proven to be unwieldy to serve as a functioning Task
Force. A number of members and organizations have indicated that
they are no longer interested in serving on the Task Force.
The Task Force has, therefore, determined that it would prefer to
reduce its size and have individuals and organizations represented
who are sincerely interested in addressing issues regarding child
care resources and services in Contra Costa County.
The Child Care Task Force has recommended that the existing
membership be abolished and that a new, smaller Task Force be
appointed which represents fewer interests, but also allows for
more flexibility in representation. The above recommendations are,
therefore, endorsed by the Child Care Task Force. The appointments
which are being recommended represent the current core membership.
Additional nominations will be made following recruitment
activities as they are outlined above.
