Honoring William M. Adcock on the Occasion of
his Retirement from the Ambrose Recreation and
Park District Board of Directors
W/95R5.45, William M. Adcock was first elected to the Board of Directors of the
Ambrose Recreation and Park District in 1955 and has served continously since that time; he is
believed to have served longer than any other elected official in the State of California; and
761WSR5,4S, William M. Adcock served on the committee which created the East Bay
Regional Park District's Master Plan; and
7MERS45, William M. Adcock served as a member of the Board of Directors of the
California Association of Recreation and Park Districts for many years, lending his expertise in park
management to districts throughout the State of California; and
700WEREWS, William M. Adcock is a charter member of the Ambrose Lions Club which
has and continues to provide support for sight and hearing impaired persons; at the same time he
has actively participated in community improvement projects; and
7MER54S, William M. Adcock was an active participant in the creation of a
self-insured insurance program for recreation and park districts throughout the State of California,
of which there are more than 60 participating districts; and
761t'F8,REWS, William M. Adcock contributed to the planning and completion of
Pacifica Park, Anuts Park and the Ambrose Community Center;

of Contra Costa County hereby commends William M. Adcock for his many, many years of
outstanding and dedicated service to the community and extends hearty congratulations on his
retirement.

Honoring Virginia Spears on the Occasion of
his Retirement from the Ambrose Recreation and
Park District Board of Directors
WIWER545, Virginia Spears was first appointed to fill a vacancy on the Board of
Directors of the Ambrose Recreation and Park District on February 18, 1982 and has served until
Febrary 18, 1994;
WXWSREWS, Virginia Spears served on thePittsburg Economic & Housing Development
Corporation providing valuable assistance to low income residents of the community in purchasing
real property; and
WI REWS, Virginia Spears served on the Pacifica High School Parent Club from
1964 until 1968 lending her expertise to both students and parents to further the education of
young people in the community;
*'WE 5,45, Virginia Spears worked as a counselor in the Juvenile Division of the
Contra Costa County Court System for more than five years providing valuable advice to many of the
youth of the community; and
W-OWER54S, Virginia Spears has generously provided of her time and expertise in
helping to provide for the growth of the Ambrose Recreation and Park District to include the
acquisition and development of Pacific Park, Anuta Park and the Ambrose Community Center.
