Dear Chairman and Members of the Board:
The Contra Costa County Library Commission wishes to commend the Board of Supervisors for
its efforts to reach consensus on the important matter of the future operation of our library
system. We recognize that the process of getting agreement by the library employees, the cities
and the county is complex. The initial resolution is an important step in achieving a long-term
solution.to the funding and provision of library service to all of the residents of Contra Costa
County.
At it's March 24, 1994 meeting the Commission adopted the following motion:
The Commission wishes to communicate to the negotiating parties their continuing active
interest and concern and their appreciation for the demonstration of a willingness to
continue to meet and seek a workable synthesis as a step to a longer range solution to the
Library delivery of services which the Commission realizes will be a continuing challenge
beyond this year. The Commission wishes to note their appreciation of the County
Librarian in her role as facilitator in this process.
We appreciate your recognition of the importance of libraries. The Commission stands ready to
assist you.
Sincerely,
J
Susanna Schlendorf, Chair
