SUBJECT: APPROVE LEFTY GOMEZ BALLFIELD COMPLEX/ACQUISITION ACTIVITY
RODEO AREA - COUNTY SERVICE AREA R-10

Specific Request(s) or Recommendations) & Background & Justification
I. RECOMMENDED ACTION:
APPROVE activity and DETERMINE that the activity is not subject to California Environmental Quality
Act pursuant to Article 5, Section 15061 (b)(3) and DIRECT the Public Works Director to proceed with
the acquisition.
DIRECT the Director of Community Development to file a Notice of Exemption with the County Clerk.
DIRECT the Public Works Director to arrange for payment of the $25.00 handling fee to the County
Clerk for filing of the Notice of Exemption.
II. FINANCIAL IMPACT:
The estimated project cost is$150,000 funded 100%by Measure"AA"funds, County Service Area R-10.
III. REASONS FOR RECOMMENDATION/BACKGROUND:
The activity includes the acquisition of approximately 10 acres of surplus property owned by the John
Swett Unified School District. It is needed to preserve the use of the existing recreational facilities.
The activity has been determined to be in compliance with the General Plan and is exempt from CEQA
because it can be seen with certainty that there is no possibility that the activity may have a significant
adverse effect on the environment per the CEQA Guidelines.
IV. CONSEQUENCES OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
Delay in approving the activity could result in the loss of use of the recreation facilities and may
jeopardize funding.
