SUBJECT: Acceptance of Award
The Board ACCEPTED the American Cancer Society Award
regarding the food policy, and presented to the Contra Costa
County Food & Nutrition Policy Consortium the proclamation
(adopted by the Board on March 1, 1994) declaring March 15
through April 15, 1994, "American Cancer Society Mother Was Right
days" and supporting the Food and Nutrition Policy Consortium's
efforts to implement a County food policy.

American Cancer Society purpose of this pre sena ion is to report to the Board the progress made

Contra Costa Chapter Societyregarding the food policy, and to petition the Board to make a

The presentation to the Board of Supervisors will include an update on
the implementation of the county's award-winning Food Policy, the
only countywide food policy in effect in the country. The food policy
requires that all functions providing food and supported by county
funds offer sufficient food choices that are consistent with US Dietary
guidelines, and that items offered at meals and breaks, and in vending
FREVENTION pROCpKAM machines, provide nutritional benefits and choice to county employees.
