SUBJECT: APPROVAL OF COMMUNITY SERVICES DEPARTMENT CHILD DEVELOPMENT DIVISION'S
CONTINUATION OF SERVICE
SPECIFIC REQUEST(S) OR RECOMMENDATION(S) & BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION
I. RECOMMENDED ACTION
APPROVE AND AUTHORIZE the Community Services Department Director, or her
designee to apply for and sign the application(s) with the State of
California Department of Education, Child Development Division (CDE) to
provide continued child care services at the Carlson Children's Center
facility.
II. FINANCIAL IMPACT
There is no financial impact at this time. The proposal is a application
process only. The annual maximum reimbursable amount of the contract will
be $238,165 for 12 months of operation.
III. CONSEQUENCES OF NEGATIVE ACTION
The application is to provide services for 46 children and their families
in the Richmond area. If this proposal is not approved it will mean loss
of these valuable services to children and families of Contra Costa
County.

IV. REASONS FOR RECOMMENDED ACTION
This application is for the continuation of services at the Carlson Center
located in Richmond. The CSD is presently operating on a interim basis at
that site. The CDE is now seeking bid applications for the continued
operation of services to those children. THE SID APPLICATION IS DUE NARCH
15,1994.
The successful applicant shall serve approximately 46 full time equivalent
subsidized children ages 2.9 to enrollment in kindergarten.
The annual maximum reimbursable amount (MRA) of the contract will be
$238,165 for 12 months of operation. The minimum days of operation are
246 with a daily rate to be negotiated but which cannot exceed the
standard reimbursement of $21.1533 as set by statute.
The anticipated contract period will be from July 1,1994, through June 30,
1995.
