HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 03311994 - 1.1 fr� THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA Adopted this Order on March 31, 1994 by the following vote: AYES: Supervisors Smith, McPeak, and Powers NOES: None ABSENT: Supervisors Bishop and Torlakson ABSTAIN: None SUBJECT: Swearing In Ceremony for Mark DeSaulnier as Supervisor from District IV Chairman Tom Powers called the meeting to order at 3:30 p.m. and announced the purpose of this gathering is to witness the swearing into office of Mark DeSaulnier who has been appointed by Governor Wilson as the Supervisor from District IV to fill the unexpired term of Sunne Wright McPeak who is resigning effective at midnight, March 31, 1994 . Following the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag and the singing of the National Anthem by Patty Hart, a friend of Mark DeSaulnier, Chairman Powers introduced elected officials in the audience. Judge Lois Haight administered the Oath of Office to Mark DeSaulnier. It was moved by Supervisor McPeak, seconded by Supervisor Smith, that Supervisor DeSaulnier be appointed to serve on all the committee seats that are being vacated by Supervisor Sunne McPeak. Supervisor DeSaulnier addressed the audience, expressing appreciation to his supporters and reviewing his goals. He introduced the staffs from the City of Concord, and his business, TR's Restaurant, his family and friends. Supervisor Torlakson arrived and expressed his congratulations to Supervisor DeSaulnier.
