HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 03221994 - S.9 IN THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, STATE OF CALIFORNIA In the Matter of Honoring and commending MICHAEL C11AVEZ & WKKI OHANIS RESOLUTION NO. 941 178 on the 15th Anniversary of Charisma Salon > WHEREAS, vikki Ohanis and Michael Chavez have owned and operated Charisma Hair Salon for 15 years in the City of Concord; and WHEREAS; Charisma serves not only as a model small business but also as an informal community center where many service ideas and projects are born and was at one time termed by YWCA Executive Director and Contra Costa Water District Director Bette Boatmun as the "Cheers' of Concord and Central Contra Costa County, and WHEREAS, Michael Chavez and Vikki Ohanis along with the Charisma crew and patrons have launched numerous civic projects, including promotion of the Concord Academy, support for the Markham Arboretum, contraction of bocce ball courts, traditional renovation of Todos Santos Park, assisting needy families at Christmas, complimentary hairstyles for spouses of Desert Storm troops, and recycling of plastics and aluminum in beauty salons, plus many more charitable projects; and WHEREAS, Michael Chavez has also personally served his community as a member of the Concord Parks and Recreation Commission and is currently a member of the Planning Commission; and WHEREAS, Vikki Ohanis has also personally served her community as an instructor and member of the Board of Directors of the Pavilion Associates; and WHEREAS, Michael and Vikki are able to serve a most diverse clientele of political activists without offending anyone or letting the politics get in the way of personal service; and NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors hereby salutes Charisma Salon for its 15 years of being in business; COMMENDS Michael Chavez and Vikki Ohanis for their heartfelt community service; and DECLARES Saturday, April 16, 1994, a day of recognition for Charisma Salon. PASSED AND ADOPTED ON March 22, 1994, by a unanimous vote of the Board members present.
