WHEREAS, Edna Boland has been honored this year as a Woman of Distinction by the
Soroptimists International of Concord and for the City of Concord Status of Women's Annual
Women's History Month Recognition Award for her exceptional volunteer and community
services; and
WHEREAS, Mrs., Boland has shown incredible dedication to the county's Health Services
Department by volunteering her services as a full-time registered nurse and in any other
capacity that the Department has needed her for the past 18 years; and
WHEREAS, in an example of her dedication, while convalescing from an illness two years
ago, Mrs. Boland left a rehabilitation center in order to volunteer at a flu clinic as she had
previously committed; and
WHEREAS, there are few individuals like Mrs. Boland who are so dedicated in serving their
community, and she has the special ability to do her work with a friendly smile for the people
she serves; and
WHEREAS, Contra Costa County is fortunate to have a volunteer like Edna Boland. We are
grateful to her for generously donating her time and talents to help improve the quality of
services the county provides to its citizens.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors honors EDNA BOLAND
for her outstanding volunteer efforts. •
PASSED AND ADOPTED ON March 22, 1994, by a unanimous vote of the Board members
present.
