as CLAY ENGLAR DAY in Contra ) RESOLUTION NO. 941172
Costa County )
WHEREAS, on August 1, 1994, Clay Englar will celebrate his 70th birthday; and
WHEREAS, Clay has been a resident of Contra Costa County since he and his wife, Miriam,
moved to Pleasant Hill in 1951; and
WHEREAS, Clay is a graduate of Cal, Tech University and is very involved in its alumni
association. He is a great lover of travel and last year traveled with the alumni association to
Ecuador. This year, he and Miriam will be exploring Russia; and
WHEREAS, a dedicated patron of the arts, Clay is active in the Contra Costa Musical Theater,
the Diablo Light Opera Company, and the Regional Center for the Ans (formerly Civic Arts).
Each year he participates in the "Celebration for Life" an annual AIDS benefit at RCA; and
WHEREAS, Clay is active in the Church of the Resurrection in Pleasant Hill where he has
served as Treasurer for many years and is a lay server during communion. He has"also
participated since its inception in the annual church play; and
WHEREAS, a wonderful father, Clay acted as Cub and Scout Master when his children were
small and is a loyal and supportive.husband to Miriam; and
WHEREAS, Clay is very dedicated to the issues he believes in and has a strong belief in family
and community. We are fortunate to have a resident like Clay and extend our appreciation for
his efforts to improve the quality of life in Contra Costa County as well as a hardy Happy 70th
Birthday.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors declares August 1, 1994,
as CLAY ENGLAR DAY in Contra Costa County.
PASSED AND ADOPTED ON March 22, 1994, a unanimous vote of the Board members
present.
