651 Pine CLERIC BOARD OF SUPERVISORS;

CONTE'A COSTA CO. ;
We would like to enlist your help in promoting October as "Family
History Month".. This movement was started in 1990 by the Mon-
mouth County, New Jersey, Genealogy Club and is supported by the
Governors of New Jersey and Nevada. Endorsement is pending in
several other states and with the National Genealogical Society
and the Federation of Genealogical Societies. The California
State Genealogical Alliance will be contacting our state. govern-
ment for their support.
The greater Bay Area provides a rich collection of libraries,
archives, and organizations to assist family historians. Budget
cut-backs make it more important to enlist the aid of private
individuals. Most of the organizations support library and
archive resources financially as well as with volunteer staffing.
Enclosed are copies of the proclamations issued by New Jersey and
Nevada. We can provide you with additional material and informa-
tion if needed. As we finalize our own plans for observing
Family History Month we will be glad to share them.
Thank you.
Sincerely,
/Ovlr_
