HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 03011994 - 1.26 �G�A'h! u IN THE MATTER OF ] RESOLUTION No. 94/117 Acknowledging the ] Hotel and Restaurant ] Workers Bill of Rights] WHEREAS, every Hotel and Restaurant Worker deserves to earn a living wage; and WHEREAS, ..every Hotel and Restaurant Worker deserves to work one job, not two, in order to survive; and" WHEREAS; every Hotel. and Restaurant Worker deserves paid vacation, sick leave, affordable family health insurance and is entitled to family and maternity leave;. and WHEREAS, every Hotel and Restaurant Worker, regardless of immigration status, deserves to be treated with respect and dignity . in accordance with all employment and labor laws; and WHEREAS, every Hotel and Restaurant Worker deserves to work in an environment freeof harassment and discrimination; ,and WHEREAS, every Hotel and Restaurant- Worker deserves, meaningful access to .information and education regarding occupational hazards and other health and safety standards; and WHEREAS, every Hotel and Restaurant Worker deserves the right to address grievances free from intimidation and recrimination; and WHEREAS, every Hotel and Restaurant Worker deserves the right to organize for the improvement of wages and benefits, and also working and living conditions; and NOW, therefore, be it resolved, that the ' Board of Supervisors support the Hotel and Restaurant Workers Bill of Rights. PASSED by unanimous vote of the Board members present on this First day of March, 1994 .
