SUBJECT: Approval of Contract ' Amendment Agreement #23-012-18
with KPMG Peat Marwick
SPECIFIC REQUEST(S) OR RECOMMENDATION(S) 8c BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION
I. RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Approve and authorize the Health Services Director to execute on
behalf of the County, Contract Amendment Agreement #23-012-18,
effective February 1, 1994., to amend Standard Contract #23-012-17 with
KPMG Peat Marwick, to increase the Contract payment limit by $20, 000,
from $50, 000 to a new total payment limit of $70, 000, for the
Contractor's provision of additional services.
II. FINANCIAL IMPACT:
This Contract is funded by Enterprise I in the Health Services
Department's Fiscal Year 1993-94 Budget.
III. REASONS FOR RECOMMENDATIONS/BACKGROUND:
The Department has contracted with this firm for several years for
provision of fiscal expertise on various audit appeal issues;
representation at appeal hearings; and technical research and advice
on class action litigation. On May 18, 1993 , the Board approved
Standard Contract #23-0.12-17 to provide consultation and technical
assistance to the Department's accounting staff for the period from
July 1, 1993 through June 30,, 1994 .
Approval of Contract Amendment Agreement #23-012-18 will allow the
Contractor to provide technical assistance and due diligence
activities related to an assessment of the County's entering into an
affiliation with Los Medanos Community Hospital.

AMENDMENT SPECIFICATIONS

In consideration for Contractor's willingness to provide additional
services under the Contract identified herein, County agrees to
increase the Contract Payment Limit. County and Contractor agree,
therefore, to amend said Contract as set forth below while all
other parts of the Contract remain unchanged and in full force and
effect.
1. Increase in Payment Limit. The Payment Limit specified in
Paragraph 4 . (Payment Limit) of the Contract is hereby
increased by $20 , 000, from $50 , 000 to a new total payment
limit of $70, 000 .
2 . Payment Provisions. Paragraph l.d. (Payment Amounts) of the
Payment Provisions is hereby amended to read as follows:

service unit as defined in Paragraph 6. of the
Service Plan, but not to exceed the total
