1994 as GINGER MARSH DAY in ) RESOLUTION NO. 94/148

WHEREAS, Ginger Marsh is one of the founding members of SHELTER, Inc., a nonprofit
organization formed in 1987 to address the growing homeless problem in the county. She was
instrumental in the agency's development and its current maintenance; and during her tenure,
she has served twice as Chairwoman. On March 17, 1994, Ginger is being honored by
SHELTER, Inc.,for her many contributions to helping alleviate homelessness in Contra Costa
County; and
WHEREAS, Ginger's leadership and dedication allowed SHELTER, Inc., to purchase and
develop the Pittsburg Family Center, the agency's first shelter project. The Pittsburg Family
Center provides seven families with transitional housing and has assisted many families in
avoiding homelessness; and
WHEREAS, SHELTER, Inc., has since opened other homeless shelters and provides many
services to people who are about to become homeless or are already homeless; and the Program
Committee, which is in charge of all of the services, is currently overseen by Ginger, and
WHEREAS, Ginger has also been a member of the County's Homeless Advisory Committee since
its inception in 1990, helped form the Literacy Alliance of Contra Costa County, is a current
member of the City of Concord's Library Task Force, the United Way of Contra Costa County
Leadership Board, and the Cambridge Community Center Board of Directors; and
WHEREAS, Ginger is an outstanding member of the community whose dedication to public
service has benefitted us all. Not only has she greatly assisted SHELTER, Inc., with its goals,
she has generously donated her time and talents to many of the causes that have improved the
quality of life in Contra Costa County. We are thankful to Ginger and wish her continued
success and happiness with her volunteer endeavors.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors declares March 17, 1994,
as GINGER MARSH DAY in Contra Costa County.
PASSED AND ADOPTED ON March 15, 1994, by a unanimous vote of the Board members
