In the Matter commending AIDS )
Community Network for its success )
with the Tranquillium Center in )
Richmond, and congratulating them ) Resolution No. 94/145
on the March 23, 1994, grand opening)
of their new home. )
Whereas, AIDS Community Network has successfully operated West
County's first and only day services center for people with HIV for the past
two and a half years, providing hot lunches, support groups, massages, a
library, information and referral, showers and laundry facilities, and field
trips; and
Whereas, AIDS Community Network has effectively collaborated
services at Tranquillium with other agencies such as Diablo Valley AIDS
Center, AIDS Project of Contra Costa, Bay Area Addiction Research and
Treatment, Pittsburg Coordinating Council, Familias Unidas, Contra Costa
College and Contra Costa County's AIDS Program; and
Whereas, AIDS Community Network has relied upon only two staff
people, but also dozens of volunteers to serve 150 clients, five days a week;
and
Whereas, AIDS Community Network was able to procure a new site
in a private home setting after two years at the Unity Church of Richmond;
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF
SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY that they hereby
commend AIDS Community Network for its many successes during
Tranquillium Center's first two years; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors
congratulate AIDS Community Network on the grand opening of their new
home on March 23, 1994.
