Dear Supervisor Powers,
It has come to the El Cerrito Committee on Aging's attention that the County
plans to consolidate a number of its smaller libraries, including the El Cerrito
library, in the interest of the economy. This was on the advice of the County
Administrator.
Such a move would be a great disservice to the County's children. It would be
particularly burdensome on El Cerrito's children who would be serviced by far
off Pinole library. The many students who use" our library as a warm, quiet
place to do their homework would be particularly at loss. Therefore we urge
you to keep all the County's libraries open at all costs whether from the general
fund, a special tax or special assessment.
Sincerely,
Daniel Freudenthal
Chairman,
El Cerrito.Committee on Aging
