SUBJECT: EMPIRE AVENUE BRIDGE REPLACEMENT - OAKLEY AREA

SPECIFIC REQUEST(S ) OR RECOMMENDATION(S) & BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION
I. Recommended Action:
A. APPROVE Right of Way Contract and ACCEPT Grant Deed dated January 18, 1994 from
Manuel Cambra, Jr., and Mary A. Cambra.
B. AUTHORIZE Public Works Director to execute said Right of Way Contract on behalf of
the County.
C. APPROVE payment of $8,250.00 for said property rights and AUTHORIZE the Auditor-
Controller to issue a check in said amount payable to Chicago Title Insurance Company,
500 Ignacio Valley Road, Suite 200, Walnut Creek, CA., 94596, Escrow No. 75483 to be
forwarded to the Real Property Division for delivery.
D. DIRECT the Real Property Division to have the above referenced Grant Deed recorded
in the office of the County Recorder.
II. Financial Impact:
Payment of $8,250.00 from Oakley Area of Benefit funds.
111. Reasons for Recommendations and Background:
These property rights are required for the Empire Avenue Bridge Replacement project in
accordance with the approved plans and specifications.
IV. Consequences of Negative Action:
The project will not have sufficient land rights to allow construction in accordance with the
approved plans and specifications.

Real property in the northwest quarter of the northwest quarter of Section 35, Township 2 North,
Range 2 East, Mount Diablo Meridian, Contra Costa County, California, being portions of that parcel
of land described in the deed to Manuel Cambra, Jr. et ux recorded October 4, 1974 in Volume
7338 of Official Records at page 454, described as follows:

Commencing in the intersection of Empire Avenue and Laurel Road at the iron pipe marking the
northwest corner of Section 35 (T2N, R2E); thence along the north line of Section 35, south
89024'00" east 292.50 feet; thence south 0042'45" west 44.93 feet to the Point of Beginning at the
northwest corner of said Cambra parcel (7338 O.R. 454);thence from the Point of Beginning along
the north line of said Cambra parcel, also being south right of way line of Laurel Road, south
89024'47" east 172.50 feet, to the east line of said Cambra parcel; thence along said east line,south
