SUBJECT: REQUEST authorization to execute the Application/Assurances
and Challenge Grant Application documents for the Federal
Challenge Grant Award
SPECIFIC REQUEST(S)OR RECOMMENDATION(S)&BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION
RECOMMENDED ACTION:
APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Director of Social Service or
designee to sign the Application/Assurances and Challenge
Grant Application (County Number 29-037-7) for Federal
Challenge Grant funds to be awarded to the Social Service
Department. The grant funds will be placed into the
County's children's trust fund programs. during the federal
fiscal year 1993/1994.
FISCAL•
No County General Funds are required. This grant. will
provide continued revenue. for use in child abuse prevention
programs.
BACKGROUND;
The Federal Challenge Grant Funds are used in conjunction
with state child abuse funds, birth certificate fees and Ann
Adler Children and Family Trust funds to provide a variety
of services used for the prevention of child abuse.
Programs include: child care, family and children's
counseling, and programs related to substance abuse and the
abuse of children. Currently, the FACT Committee is
overseeing the award of these funds and planning for the
future use- of these funds.
