SUBJECT: Authority to execute California Department of Aging
Standard Contract #29-504 State # 3F-9293-07
SPECIFIC REQUEST(S)OR RECOMMENDATION(S)&BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION
I. RECOMMENDED ACTION
APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Director, Office on Aging, or
designee, to execute Standard Agreement No. 29-504 (State No.
3F-9293-07) with the State Department of Aging in the amount
of $42 , 505 for the provision of disease prevention and health
promotion activities and other direct client services during
the period July 1, 1992 through June 30, 1993 .
Further, authorize the Director, or designee, to execute the
Contract Award document (State Agreement) subject to approval
by County Counsel or the Social Service Department Contract
Administrator as to legal form.
II. FINANCIAL IMPACT
No County costs. Required match will be provided from
in-kind volunteer resources.
This contract is funded by Federal funds through Title III-F
of the Older Americans Act, State Seniors' funds and County
in-kind match:

III. REASONS FOR RECOMMENDATION/BACKGROUND
The Office on Aging received a one-time-only allocation of
$37, 818 for Disease Prevention and Health Promotion Services
under Title III F of the Older Americans Act, and $4,887 from
the California Fund for Senior Citizens and California
Seniors Special Fund. The Office on Aging will utilize these
funds for a preventive health care component to AAA's
Information and Referral program; health insurance
counseling for seniors; California Senior Legislature
election expenses; and other direct client services, as
appropriate.
The required match for the Federal funds will be provided
through in-kind volunteer resources of Health Insurance
Advocacy and Counseling volunteers at no cost to the County.
