FROM: J. MICHAEL WALFORD, PUBLIC WORKS DIRECTOR
DATE: June 8, 1993
SUBJECT: Approve Addendum Number 1 and Award Contract for the Byron Hot, Springs Road
Relocation Project at Contra Costa County-Byron Airport
Project No. AIP 3-06-0008-05
SPECIFIC REQUEST(S)OR RECOMMENDATION(S) &BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION
I. Recommended Action:
APPROVE prior issuance of Addendum No.'1 and AWARD contract to Ferma Corporation for the
Byron Hot Springs Road Relocation Project.
II. Financial Impact:
The amount of the contract is $288,638.55, of which 90% will be funded by the Federal Aviation
Administration. The local share will be paid for out of the Airport Enterprise Fund.
III. Reasons for Recommendations and Bac round:
On April 20, 1993, the Board advertised for bids for construction work to relocate a portion of
Byron Hot Springs Road. This work is necessary because the planned runways for airport
expansion crosses Byron Hot Springs Road.
Addendum No. 1 clarifies several issues and did not change the Engineers Estimate of $401,400.
On May 20, 1993, construction bids were received .from fifteen contractors. Bids ranged from
$288,638.55 to $531,052.79.
It has been determined that the lowest bidder, Ferma Corporation, meets all requirements,
including Disadvantaged Business Enterprise goal.
