ill. Reasons for Recommendations and Background:
Since 1986, the Contra Costa County Flood Control and Water Conservation District has
collected rainfall and stream flow data for the Contra Costa Water District's proposed Los
Vaqueros (Kellogg Creek) reservoir project. The Flood Control District benefits by having the
data for use in our Kellogg Creek rainfall-runoff study and in our database for the Countywide
hydrology system. Contra Costa Water District benefits by having the data for the design and
construction of the Los Vaqueros reservoir.
IV. Consequences of Negative Action:
If the agreement is not amended to continue, the District will lose the opportunity to continue a
mutually beneficial data collection program as well as the loss of a cooperative effort by two
public agencies. The Contra Costa Water District would further be affected by having to hire an
outside engineering firm at a considerable increase in cost to the Water District.
