Bitten, Acting Director of Personnel - Costa : - A County I•► DATE: June 22, 1993 SUBJECT: Written Examination Preparation SPECIFIC REQUEST(S)OR RECOMMENDATION(S)&BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION RECOMMENDATION AUTHORIZE the Acting Director of Personnel to execute a contract extension agreement with Cooperative Personnel Services, a joint powers agency of the City of Anaheim, California State Personnel Board, Hayward Unified School District, County of Sacramento, County of Sonoma, and the Sacramento Municipal Utility District to extend the contract from June 30, 1993 to June 30, 1997. FINANCIAL R"ACT The extension of this contract does not commit the County to spend a specific amount of money. The County pays only for services rendered in accordance with the examination price lists and as provided for in the budget. The four-year contract term is intended to reduce paperwork and increase our efficiency in use of Cooperative Personnel Services for test preparation. Funds to pay for services rendered are provided in the Personnel Department and other County operating department budgets. BACKGROUND Cooperative Personnel Services is a joint powers agency of a variety of cities, counties, special districts and the State of California which provides a relatively wide range of test materials which local agencies may utilize. CONSEQUENCES OF NEGATIVE ACTION Future testing services will not be provided by the same agency, requiring the County to write its own examinations for employment screening or purchase them from other sources at a greater cost.
