Subsequently, the Director of General Services executed a cost plus fee construction contract, with a guaranteed maximum cost, for all the listed items except the security gates, playfield fence modifications, and sally ports, which needed more time for study and design. C. The design for Item 1, "Metal security gates outside each unit playfield door, " was completed and expanded to include a gate at one additional interior location. Also, the design for Item 2, "Replace hardware cloth on playfield fence and install additional outrigging, " was completed and estimated to substantially exceed the preliminary cost listed in the report. Change Order No. 1 must be executed to formally add these items to the contract scope of work and to increase the contract guaranteed maximum cost. D. The new guaranteed maximum cost will exceed the total estimated cost of security improvements listed in the report approved by the Board on July 14, 1992 . The amount listed in the report was $206, 173.00 . The new guaranteed maximum cost will be $226,555 . 00, an increase of $20, 382 . 00 . E. The County Administrator and the Probation Department have determined that Item 5 in the report, "Sally port in Sierra' s police entrance" , is no longer a priority item and is not included in the contract scope of work. 25003B04 .21A RH:GB: ls Page 2 of 2
