It is with regret that I find I must resign from the Wom lsory
Committee. Unfortunately I have missed several meetings from Jan.
1993, to April 1993 due to illness and travel (and the fact that the
Committee meets every other month), so I have inadvertantly
violated the attendance rules for the Committee.
I am, however, proud of the fact that I was able to put in literally
hundreds of hours of work on the Sexual Harassment legislation,
AB2264, (sponsored by the Committee) in 1991/1992 and regularly
convene a Bay Area Sexual Harassment Task Force of the
Commissions on the Status of Women to support that issue and other
concerns. I'm including a newspaper article, a letter from Jackie
Speier and a communication from Cal Trans relative to these
matters, for your information. I think, you too, will be proud of the
results of these endeavors .
I have served on the Committee for over ten years and consider it a
privilege to have done so.
In closing, I just wanted to say that I hope your budget deliberations
go as well as possible in the next few months. I've admired the
deliberative process you are applying to a difficult situation and the
fact that. Contra Costa County is taking leadership role, state%tilde, in
the process. Congratulations and best wishes, Joan Leslie.

Dear M¢. Harris#
I Irish to express my sincere thanks for your committee 's active
support of 'legislation I am carrying concerning -sexual harassment
in the workplace. -As you may know, AB `22641 the water cooler
j posting bill, and AB 2265, which helps further define hostile work
environment, arp. currently pending in the Assembly ways and Means
Committee. Youi„saonsorshij ' and continued support of this
significant legislation is much needed and greatly appreciated,
It is only concerned women such as yourselves that really make a
difference .
Joan Leslie has been particularly instrumental in securing
approval of these measurers , Her efforts to garner support from
organisations Across the state and her untiring participation have
contributed invaluably to that success of these bills . Joan's
-efforts are to be strongly commended.
Sexual harassment is a pervasive and insidious problem facing
women in both traditional and nontraditional fields . Again, I
cannot thank you enough for your leadership and active support of
this important cause.
All the best, /} 2
