SUBJECT: PROCESS TO BE USED IN MAKING APPOINTMENTS TO THE
HOMELESS ADVISORY COMMITTEE
SPECIFIC REQUEST(S)OR RECOMMENDATION(S)&BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION
RECOMMENDATIONS:
1. AUTHORIZE the Homeless Advisory Committee to interview all
candidates for vacancies on the Homeless Advisory Committee
and forward to the Internal Operations Committee on July 26,
1993, copies of all applications considered, along with the
Advisory Committee' s comments and recommendations for
appointments to the vacancies on the Advisory Committee,
including an indication of which category each nominee might
most appropriately fill .
BACKGROUND:
Several resignations from the Homeless Advisory Committee have been
accepted by the Board of Supervisors in the last few weeks . The
Homeless Advisory Committee has received several applications for
seats on the Homeless Advisory Committee. We would like the
Homeless Advisory Committee to interview these and any other
candidates whose applications they receive and provide our
Committee with their comments and recommendations for which
applicants should be appointed to which seats and for which
category or categories each applicant should be considered.

Listed below are four members who have resigned from the Homeless Advisory
Committee:

Letters and applications have been sent to Nancy Robbins of AMI in Lafayette,
the Mental Health Association, and the Interfaith Coalition in Walnut Creek. We
are waiting to hear from representatives of those agencies wishing to apply for
membership on HAC.
In the meantime, we would appreciate being placed on the next available agenda
for the I. 0. Committee. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

FUNCTIONS: To promote community awareness, exchange information, identify
needed programs, advocate for the funding of housing and other
needed programs, coordinate programs and services for the
homeless, and advise the Board of Supervisors on such matters.

MEETING TIME: First and third Wednesday of each month at 10:00 AM in the
Housing Authority Conference Room.
