Dear Board Members:
As a part of our commitment to education and the environment, BFI -
Pleasant Hill Bayshore Disposal, Inc. is pleased to provide several
Contra Costa County schools with a curriculum on solid waste and
recycling issues as well as the Contra Costa Times Newspaper in
Education. program.
Bel Air Elementary school in West Pittsburg; Belshaw, Bidwell,
Fremont, Kimball, Mission, Sutter and Turner Elementary schools in
Antioch; Mt. Diablo Elementary school in Clayton; Hidden Valley,
John Muir and Las Juntas Elementary schools in Martinez; Fair Oaks,
Pleasant Hill, Sequoia, Strandwood and Valhalla Elementary schools
in Pleasant Hill; Hillcrest and St. Patrick's Elementary schools in
Rodeo will all be receiving the curriculum and newspapers to use in
the classroom for the next six weeks beginning on Earth Day, April
22, 1993 .
Also, BFI - Pleasant Hill Bayshore Disposal, Inc. was a sponsor of
the Contra Costa Earth Day Festival and invited all of the schools
to join in the activities. We distributed information on recycling
and sponsored a poster coloring contest for children. The posters
will be displayed at our office for the next month and each
participant will receive a reward and recognition in our quarterly
newsletter, The Dialogue. We would like to invite all of the
supervisors to stop by and view the art work!
We are pleased to able to provide this kind of opportunity
involving both education and the environment in Contra Costa
County. I look forward to hearing from you about the success of
the program.
