REASONS FOR RECOMMENDATIONSIBACKGROUND: For many years, the County maintained a contractual relationship with the Martinez Veterans Administration Medical Center, through a mutual sharing agreement, which has made available to the County specialized medical services not available at Merrithew Memorial Hospital and Clinics due to lack of resources, equipment, and personnel. The Medical Center has closed, but under this new sharing agreement, the VAOPC will continue to provide specialized laboratory testing, radiology services, nuclear medicine studies, CT scans, MRI's, dermatology, gastroenterology, urology, audiology and speech, and opthalmology services for the County.
