MICHAEL WALFORD, PUBLIC WORKS DIRECTOR DATE: May 11, 1993 SUBJECT: Approve Addendum No. 1 for the Avon Bridge Rehabilitation and Seismic Retrofit Project. Project No. 0662-6134089-90. Specific Request(s) or Recommendations) & Background & Justification I. RECOMMENDED ACTION: APPROVE prior issuance of Addendum No. 1 for the Avon Bridge Rehabilitation and Seismic Retrofit Project. II. FINANCIAL IMPACT: The estimated contract cost of the project is now $468,000, funded by Federal funds (81%), matching State funds (1%) and Road Funds (18%). III. REASONS FOR RECOMMENDATION/BACKGROUND: On April 6, 1993 the Board of Supervisors approved plans and specifications for this project. This addendum is required for the following reasons: eThe prior advertisement was not accomplished according to Section 20392 of the Public Contract Code, thus the bid due date is changed to May 18, 1993. eSome of the quantities shown in the Proposal and in the Notice to Contractors have been corrected. CONSEQUENCES OF NEGATIVE ACTION: Non-compliance with Section 20392 at the Public Contract code could invalidate all bids. Failure to correct the Notice to Contractors and Proposal may cause confusion to bidders, resulting in higher bid prices.
