Re: Helicopter Flight Paths
Dear Board of Supervisors:
This is my second letter regarding the flight paths of the
helicopters from Buchanan Field.
I understand that you are now working very hard on solving this
problem. But, I also understand that due to the helicopter
training school's owner, Mr. Corr, this may be a long process. So,
I have a suggestion that might minimize the ire received from the
citizens due to the excessive noise and disturbances caused by
these flights.
I happen to live in an area where the helicopters think it is okay
to "cut the corner" of the freeway and fly directly over
neighborhoods. They fly low enough so that I can read the numbers
on the red, white and black helicopters, And actually make U-turns
right over my roof. I do not live close enough to Highway 680 to
justify that they went "slightly" off course.
If the owner of the helicopter flight school would keep his
helicopters over Highway 680, and require them to fly a little
higher, maybe the complaints would subside a little until a
solution to this problem could be worked out.
When I bought my, house 10 years ago, there was little or no
noticeable helicopter traffic over my house. It has only been in
the recent years that we seem to have many, many of them fly over
our house each day, and more on the weekends. My neighbors cannot
even hold a conversation outside on the weekends because it is
impossible to talk and hear over the roar of the endless line of
helicopters.

I, for one, and my neighbors, for many others, wish that Mr. Corr
would move his helicopter training school to Byron. But, as
discourteous and self-serving as he seems, he would probably draw
the ire of people in that community also. Maybe if I made a tape
of a typical day at my house and put it on the biggest stereo
system I could find, I could take it to Mr. Corr's house on Morgan
Territory Road so he could experience what it is like to have his
endless flights over his house every single day -- or is that
considered "disturbing the peace?"
If you have any questions, or wish to come and see how bad the
problem really is, please feel free to call me at the number set
forth above.
I really appreciate the time you are taking to resolve this very
annoying problem.
Yours very truly,
Denise S. Elsken
