IN THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
OF
CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA
IN THE MATTER OF RESOLUTION NO. 93/191
Proclaiming May 1, 1993, through
October 23, 1993, as the 25th Anniversary
of the Contra Costa County Special
Ol ics
WHEREAS,it is known that the Contra Costa County Special Olympics Program provides mul-
tiple opportunities for Special Olympic athletes and their families year-round; and
WHEREAS,the Contra-Costa County Special Olympics Program provides a positive athletic
experience in which Special Olympic athletes have an opportunity to participate, compete, and be re-
warded for their best effort; and
Contra Costa County has a potential 1,000 special athletes who participate in this
unique program; and
WHEREAS,the families and volunteers of Contra Costa County Special Olympics are a necessary
and appreciated part of the program; and
WHEREAS,the Chair of the International Special Olympics, Eunice Kennedy Shriver,wrote that
"we have identified a need to expand the number and variety of sports offered to our athletes and we look
forward to making all sports available to Special Olympians worldwide."
NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of Contra Costa County
does respectfully acknowledge the value, pride and respect for the Contra Costa County Special Olympics
and proclaims May 1, 1993, through October 23, 1993, as the 25th Anniversary of the Contra Costa County
Special Olympics celebration. The anniversary will culminate with an Anniversary Gala onn October 23,
1993, at the Sheraton Inn, in Concord, California.
PASSED by unanimous vote of the Board Members present on this 27th Day of April, 1993.

of Supervisors on the date aforesaid.
