HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 03021993 - 1.3 CONTRA COSTA COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS Adopted this Resolution on February 23, 1993, by the following vote: AYES: Supervisors Powers, Smith, Bishop, McPeak and Torlakson NOES: None ABSENT: None RESOLUTION NO. 93/ 89 SUBJECT: In the matter of amending Resolution 93/28 and requesting the California Department of Transportation and the Metropolitan Transportation Commission to include State Route 4 from Interstate 80 to San Joaquin County line in the National Highway System. WHEREAS this Board of Supervisors has adopted Resolution 93/28 on January 19, 1993 urging the Metropolitan Transportation Commission not to delete State Route 4 from Interstate 680 to San Joaquin County line from the National Highway System (NHS); WHEREAS the Congress will designate the NHS based on recommendations from the states; WHEREAS in California, the State's recommendation will be a cooperative effort between the local agencies, the metropolitan transportation organizations and the State of California; WHEREAS on February 9, 1993, Caltrans has transmitted to the Contra Costa Transporta- tion Authority, the Congestion Management Agency in Contra Costa County, the latest revisions to the California's proposed National Highway System map; such map deletes not only the portion of State Route 4 from Interstate 680 to San Joaquin County line, it also deletes the portion of State Route 4 between Interstate 80 and Interstate 680; WHEREAS the entire segment of State Route 4 in Contra Costa County is an important interregional route serving the largest heavy industrial area in the Bay Area; WHEREAS State Route 24 has a ban on tanker trucks and trucks hauling hazardous material; and State Route 4 is the only route available for these type of materials; NOW THEREFORE, be it resolved by the Board of Supervisors that the Resolution 93/28 is amended to include the portion of State Route 4 between Interstate 80 and Interstate 680 as part of the Board's request and the California Department of Transportation and the Metropolitan Transportation Commission are urged to include the entire segment of State Route 4 in the NHS.
