Costa by - Dan Hallissy, Chief Standards A: ._ .. ., aQ DATE: March 3, 1993 ''' County SUBJECT: NOTIFICATION OF ASSESSOR'S GRANT/CORRECTION OF PARENT-CHILD EXCLUSION SPECIFIC REQUEST(S)OR RECOMMENDATION(S)&BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION RECOMMENDED ACTION: Notify John F. Wells of Stark, Wells, Rahl & Schwartz, 1999 Harrison Street, Suite 1300, Oakland, CA 94612, representing Michael and Mary Peterson, that the Parent-Child Exclusion corrections have been completed by the Assessor. FINANCIAL IMPACT: None. REASONS FOR RECOMMENDATIONS/BACKGROUND: In March, 1989, Lois Wells died leaving the subject property to her son Michael Peterson. No application for the Parent-Child Exclusion was filed with the Assessor's Office within the statutory, three-year filing period. Upon receipt of the Assessment Appeal Application, this office reviewed the record and determined that a now retired employee had discussed the exclusion with the current owner and failed to transfer that information to the office staff. In September, 1992, we reviewed and reversed our denial and granted the application. On September 25, 1992, we transmitted the correction to the Auditor for the appropriate years. On December 23, 1992, John Biasotti replied to the Board via memo (Reply to December 8, 1992, Board Order Item 1.90). We considered the Item closed. On January 12, 1993, another Board Order Item 1.53 on the same subject appeared.
