CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA
IN THE MATTER OF ` RESOLUTION NO. 9 3/51
Proclaiming the February 15-20, 1993,
as "National Patriotism Week"
WHEREAS,the citizens of this nation live in freedom fought for and won through great sacrifice and
many tribulations. This has provided the foundation for a free, prosperous and independent life; and
each generation, in turn, must work to maintain this freedom, otherwise, through
carelessness or indifference, the rights and liberties we enjoy may vanish; and
WHEREAS,President Ronald Reagan first declared a National Patriotism Week in 1981. It is fitting
and proper that we continue to promote patriotism and recognize our freedoms,and to honor the nation which
provides it.
NOW, THERFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Board of Supervisors of Contra Costa County
hereby proclaims February 15-20,1993,as"National Patriotism Week,"and in commemoration of this event,
to encourage our youth to learn more about their-national heritage and urge all citizens to express gratitude
with the privilege of United States Citizenship and honor with appropriate celebrations and observances.
PASSED by unanimous vote of the Board members present on this 9th Day of February, 1993.

Board of Supervisors on the date aforesaid.
