MICHAEL WALFORD, PUBLIC WORKS DIRECTOR DATE: FEBRUARY 9, 1993 SUBJECT: ADULT SCHOOL CROSSING GUARDS (0360-2310) SPECIFIC REQUEST(S) OR RECOMMENDATIONS) &BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION I. Recommended Action: AUTHORIZE the Public Works Director to sign Crossing Guard Agreement for Fiscal Year 92-93 with the Oakley Union School District. li. Financial Impact: Estimated 1992-93 cost from General Funds $28,952.09. III. Reasons for Recommendations and Background: The Board of Supervisors adopted a policy for providing school crossing protection on April 3, 1979 and the Board amended its policy on May 7, 1987. Pursuant to this policy, a crossing guard is warranted on Highway 4 at Bolton Road and O'Hara Avenue at Francisco Villa in the Oakley area. IV. Consequences of Negative Action: Crossing guard protection will not be provided which will decrease safety for school children crossing at the above locations..
