SUBJECT: CAMP FIRE CITY KIDS DAY CAMP PROGRAM
I. RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Approve expenditure of $7,500 from Housing Authority Local Management Funds for
the Camp Fire City Kids Day Camp Program at Los Arboles, CA01:1008, Oakley, and
AUTHORIZE the Executive Director to execute the necessary agreement to implement the
program, as recommended by the Advisory Housing Commission.
II . FINANCIAL IMPACT:
Funding for this program is available in the Housing Authority's Local
Management Fund Account.
III . REASONS FOR RECOMMENDATION/BACKGROUND:
For the past six years the Housing Authority has contraci;ed with the
Alameda-Contra Costa Council of the Camp Fire to operate a two week summer City Kids
Program (formerly Crimebusters) in several public housing developments operated by
the Housing Authority and this program has been very successful .
The Alameda-Contra Costa County of Camp Fire has proposed a four week 1992 City
Kids Day Camp to be held at one Housing Authority location. The program will serve
approximately 75 youngsters from Los Arboles, CA011008, Oak1E!y. The total cost to
the Housing Authority for this year's program would be $7,500..
On May 19, 1992 both the Budget Committee and the Policy & Strategy Committee
of the Advisory Housing Commission reviewed the Camp Fire City Kids Day Camp proposal
for 1992 and recommended that the Advisory Housing Commission recommend approval of
the program to the Board of Commissioners. At its Regular Meeting on May 19, 1992
the Advisory Housing Commission voted to recommend approval of the 1992 Camp Camp
Fire City Kids Day Camp Program proposal and to authorize allocation of $7,500
from the Local Management Fund of the Housing Authority for this program.

IV. CONSEQUENCES OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
Should the Board of Commissioners elect to not approve the expenditure of $7,500
from Housing Authority Local Management Funds to authorize the Camp Fire City Kids
Day Camp Program at Los Arboles, CA011008, Oakley, the youth of that area will be
deprived of a valuable tool to assist them in fighting crime.
