HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 06021992 - X.6 BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY IN THE MATTER OF RESOLUTION NO. 92/366 Congratulating John Slatten on being named Brentwood's Citizen of the Year WHEREAS,John Slatten's family, having moved from San Francisco in 1927, and established a ranch in Brentwood, thereby making John a native-born resident of Brentwood; and WHEREAS,John attended local schools, married and raised his family and has spent his years working in and for the community of Brentwood; and John believes that"Everyone should pay rent for the space we take up on earth"; and WHEREAS,by way of proving the above statement,John has been chair of the Lions' Club annual 4th of July Carnique; is head of the Brentwood Economic Development Committee, and is a 34-year member of the Lions organization; and ,in addition, John was instrumental in the founding and marketing of Harvest Time, the east county organization of farmers that provide the U-pick experience to all Contra Costa County residents; and John's memories of the agricultural era of an earlier east.county, as well as his interest in people has.fostered his love of area history, and led him to become building and grounds committee chair for the East Contra Costa Historical Society; and WHEREAS,John's "Hey, I'll do that" attitude is apparent in any project he selects, thereby benefitting the City of Brentwood and the entire community of Contra Costa County; NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED that the Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors commends John Slatten for his unselfish and civic-minded commitment to his community and congratulates him on his selection as the City of Brentwood's Citizen of the Year. PASSED by unanimous vote of the Board Members present on this 2nd day of June, 1992.
